The Subaru credit card was discontinued in late 2014. Below you can see our review of the now-defunct card. For current credit card rebate choices, see our Cash Back Credit Cards page.
Subaru, in partnership with Chase, offers a reward credit card that allows you to earn points toward Subaru cars, parts or service. Our overview / review of the card is below:
The Subaru Platinum MasterCard is accepted anywhere MasterCard credit cards are accepted, which is just about anywhere that accepts credit cards, so the card has the ability to be used widely, which is a good thing.
The reward formula is straightforward — you get 3% of your card purchases back as “Subaru Reward Dollars”, which can be used toward the purchase or lease of a new Subaru vehicle, the purchase of a certified pre-owned Subaru, or parts and/or service from any Subaru dealership. You get your Reward Dollars in $100 increments, as coupons attached to your billing statement.
You’ll also get a $25 Reward Dollar bonus after you use the card for the first time.
You can earn up to $500 in Subaru Reward Dollars per year, which means you’ll earn rewards on up to $16,667 of card spending, which is a fairly high ceiling for most credit card users. If you really rack up the card spending each year, though, you’ll want to pay attention to make sure you’re not using this card at some point and getting nothing in return.
The interest rate on the Subaru MasterCard is 16.24%, which is only OK, but not terrible in relation to other reward cards on the market.
