Sandals vacation resorts, in partnership with Bank of America, offers a credit card that allows you to earn rewards points toward Sandals & Beaches vacation discounts and/or resort credits. Our overview / review of the Sandals Visa is below:
The Sandals Visa offers Bank of America’s WorldPoints reward points, with an emphasis on point accumulation and redemption on Sandals purchases. Your rewards start with a quick 10,000-point bonus once you use the card for the first time.
Otherwise, you will earn points using this simple formula:
- 2 points per dollar charged to the card at Sandals and Beaches resorts
- 1 point per dollar on all other purchases you make with the card.
Your points can be used for a variety of WorldPoints rewards, including Sandals-specific rewards such as:
- Sesame Street character breakfast (2500 points)
- $100 Sandals spa credit (10,000 points)
- $300 discount on a Sandals or Beaches vacation (25,000 points)
- Three free nights at select Sandals resorts (100,000 – 125,000 points)
As you can see, some of the rewards are available to you almost immediately based on the 10,000-point bonus you earn after your first card purchase, while others require more time & spending to achieve.
There is no annual fee for the Sandals card, and it offers an interest rate ranging from 13.24% to 23.24%, depending on your credit history. If you have good credit, the low end of that range is very reasonable; however, don’t get this card if you have a shaky credit history, especially if you have a habit of carrying a balance on your credit cards. You’ll end up paying more in interest than you receive in rewards.
Overall, we give the Sandals credit card a thumbs-up for those who travel to Sandals resorts on a regular basis. However, if you only occasionally visit a Sandals resort, you are better off getting a rewards card that offers greater rewards on everyday purchases such as gas and groceries, because the Sandals card’s basic 1-point-per-dollar offer on most purchases is not particularly competitive. See our Cash Rebate Credit Cards page for other good options if you’re not a regular Sandals traveler.
