Review: Old Pueblo Traders Credit Card

opt-credit-cardWomen’s clothing retailer, Old Pueblo Traders, in partnership with Comenity Bank, offers rewards via the Old Pueblo Traders Credit Card.  Our overview / review of the card is below:

The OPT credit card is accepted at Old Pueblo Traders and also its “sister” stores including Blair, Haband, Bedford Fair, Gold Violin and more. So the card has limited potential usage, which is generally a strike against it in our book — if you’re going to open a new credit line and take a (temporary) hit to your credit score, the card should be accepted widely or have a very good rewards program to justify it.

The Old Pueblo Traders card has some perks, but they are only OK. In addition to allowing you to buy on credit from OPT, the card offers:

  • A $10 rewards certificate for every $150 you spend with the card (though your reward points expire after one year, so you have to hit that $150 within a reasonably short period of time).
  • Free shipping.
  • Special birthday offers
  • Other coupons and offers exclusive to cardholders

The OPT credit card has no annual fee, but it does have one big sticking point — a 29.24% interest rate! This should scare you — if you don’t pay off your balance each month, anything you buy could cost you almost 30% more than the purchase price over the course of a year. Unless you are sure you will always pay off your purchases when the bill comes, don’t get this card!

However, if you do want to apply, you’ll find the Old Pueblo Traders credit card application online here.
