Car maker MINI, along with its parent company’s BMW Financial Services, offers a credit card that allows you to earn Motoring Rewards toward MINI loans, leases, or service. Should this be your new credit card? Our overview / review of the card will help you decide:
The MINI Visa offers Motoring Rewards points on every purchase. You get:
- 2 points for every dollar charged to the card at MINI dealerships as well as at other “motoring” locations such as gas stations and car washes.
- 1 point per dollar on all other card purchases.
For every 5,000 points you earn, you are eligible for a $50 reward that can be used toward your MINI lease or loan, parts & service, MINI motoring gear, and other MINI-related products and events.
The MINI Visa has an interest rate of anywhere from 13.49% to 24.49%, depending on your credit history. The 13.49% rate is not bad, but any card rate over 20% is ridiculously high — if you are approved for this card only on the 20%+ rate side, pass it by. You don’t need to paying those kinds of interest rates.
Our overall take on the MINI credit card? It’s OK, but unless you really spend a ton of money on MINI-related gear at dealerships and spend an awful lot on gas, you could probably earn more money from some of the other Cash Back Credit Cards listed here. Of course, those other cards won’t have a cool MINI design on the front of the card like you’d get with this one, but that’s a minor consideration we think.
