Review: Kirkland’s Credit Card

kirklands-credit-card225Home decor retailer Kirkland’s, in partnership with Wells Fargo, offers a credit card that allows you to earn discounts on in-store Kirkland’s purchases. Our overview / review of the card is below:

The Kirkland’s credit card can only be used at Kirkland’s stores and Kirkland’s online, but its main discount is for in-store purchases only. Before applying, ask yourself: Do I make purchases at Kirkland’s often enough for it to be worth it to open another credit line? Or would I be better off sticking with a card I already carry? The limited ability to use the Kirkland’s card is definitely something to consider.

If you are a frequent Kirkland’s shopper and think the card could be for you, it does offer some nice perks, including:

  • 5% off purchases made inside Kirkland’s stores (but no discount for kirklands.com purchases).
  • A coupon for 20% off your first in-store purchase with the card.
  • Other discount offers throughout the year.

Now, if that sounds good to you, great. But there is one big red flag we must wave before you apply for this card. The interest rate is 28.99%!!! That is a crazy high interest rate — if you EVER carry a balance on your credit cards, avoid this one. Any rewards or discounts you receive will be essentially canceled out by the interest you pay.

That said, if you want to apply for a Kirkland’s credit card, there is an online application here.
