Department store chain Herberger’s, in partnership with Comenity Bank, offers a credit card that allows you to earn points toward future Herberger’s purchases. Our overview / review of the Herberger’s credit card is below:

First off, you should know that the Herberger’s credit card is accepted only at Herberger’s and Herberger’s sister stores across the country, including: Bon-Ton, Bergner’s, Boston Store, Carson Pirie Scott, Elder-Beerman, and Younkers. Do you shop at Herberger’s often enough for it to be worth opening up another credit line when the card’s usage is so limited?

Maybe it could be worth it for you. After all, the Herberger’s credit card offers:

  • A $20 rewards card for every $200 charged to the card within a calendar year. Reward cards can be used toward purchases of $50 or more, and you can save rewards cards and use them together at the same time on larger purchases.)
  • Chances to double your rewards based on special monthly offers.
  • An annual birthday discount
  • Other card-only discount offers throughout the year.

The rewards are pretty good — provided you ALWAYS pay off your complete credit card balance each month. If you don’t, well, be prepared to pay a very high interest rate on those purchases — 24.99%, one of the higher interest rates on the market. Any rewards you receive from this card will essentially be canceled out by the interest you pay if you carry a balance. Don’t do it!

You can not apply for the Herberger’s credit card online. You’ll have to visit a Herberger’s store to fill out an application.
