Review: Fred Meyer Credit Card

Updated February 6, 2018 – Grocery & superstore chain Fred Meyer, in partnership with US Bank, offers a credit card that allows you to earn extra points in the Fred Meyer Rewards program. Our overview / review of the card is below:

The Fred Meyer Rewards Mastercard has the advantage over many other store credit cards of being accepted anywhere Mastercard is accepted. Any time you are going to add a credit line, it’s nice to have it be useful at more than just one store chain. In this case, it will also earn you extra reward points.

You may already be enrolled in the Fred Meyer Rewards program, which gives you a point for every dollar spent at Fred Meyer — if you earn at least 500 points in a calendar quarter, you receive a $5 Rewards Rebate coupon that you can use toward future Fred Meyer purchases. The Fred Meyer Rewards Mastercard doubles your point total any time you use it — instead of 1 point per dollar, you get 2.

In addition, you will get 1 point per dollar on any purchases you make with the Fred Meyer Mastercard outside of Fred Meyer stores.

And, one more perk: You’ll get an extra 5 cents off per gallon of gas when you redeem your FuelPoints at a Fred Meyer or Kroger gas station and use the Mastercard to pay for your purchase.

The interest rate you pay on the Fred Meyer credit card will depend on how good your credit history is. You could get a rate as low as 13.24%, but you might also be approved at a rate as high as 25.24%, so be sure to check and understand what rate you are given if you are approved for the card. If that rate is on the high end of that range, be sure to never carry a balance on this card month to month — otherwise the interest you pay will essentially cancel out any rewards you receive.

You can apply for the Fred Meyer Mastercard online via the application found here.
