Regional department store chain Elder-Beerman, in partnership with Comenity Bank, offers a credit card that allows you to earn points toward future Elder-Beerman purchases. Our overview / review of the Elder-Beerman credit card is below:
The first thing you should know about the Elder-Beerman credit card is that it is only accepted at Elder-Beerman and Elder-Beerman’s sister stores across the country, including: Bon-Ton, Bergner’s, Boston Store, Carson Pirie Scott, Herberger’s, and Younkers. This limited acceptance is a strike against the card — do you really want to open a new credit line for a single chain of retail stores?
Maybe, but only if you’re a frequent Elder-Beerman shopper. The Elder-Beerman credit card offers:
- A $20 rewards card for every $200 charged to the card. Reward cards can be used toward purchases of $50 or more, and you can save rewards cards and use them together at the same time.
- Chances to double your rewards based on special monthly offers.
- An annual birthday discount
- Other card-only discount offers throughout the year.
The rewards are pretty good — that is, if you ALWAYS pay off your complete credit card balance each month. If you don’t, you will pay a very high interest rate on those purchases — 25.24%! If you carry a balance on this card, any rewards you receive will be canceled out by the interest you pay. So, think hard before you take the leap.
You can not apply for the Elder-Beerman credit card online. You’ll have to visit an Elder-Beerman store to fill out an application.
