Drury Hotels, in partnership with Commerce Bank, offers a credit card that allows you to earn points in the Drury Rewards program with the every card purchase. Is it worth having this card in your wallet? Our overview / review is below:
The first thing to know is that the Drury Hotels credit card is a Visa, which means it has wide acceptance. We at Credit Card Catalog prefer credit cards that are accepted widely versus cards that can only be used at a single retailer or hotel chain, because each new credit line causes a small (usually temporary) lowering of your credit score.
That said, let’s see what the card’s reward program offers. Note that all of the rewards mentioned below are in addition to reward points you already receive as a member of the Drury Rewards program (which gives you 10 points per dollar on Drury stays). With the card, you get:
- 5 points per dollar spent with the card at Drury Hotels (for a total of 15 points per dollar on Drury purchases)
- 2 points per dollar on gas, restaurant, and utilities purchases
- 1 point per dollar on all other card purchases
- 15,000 bonus points after using the card for at least $500 in purchases
There is no annual fee for the Drury Hotels credit card. It has a 17.99% interest rate, which is an OK rate in today’s marketplace. Still, you’ll want to pay off your balances in full each month or the interest you pay will essentially cancel out the rewards you receive.
Bottom line: The Drury Hotels credit card is a good credit card if you are already regularly earning Drury Rewards points, because it allows you to earn and redeem points faster. If you are not already staying at Drury Hotels regularly, however, you’d be better off to simply get a generous cash back credit card.
