Review: Citi Prestige Credit Card

The Citi Prestige Card is Citibank’s entry in the luxury travel credit card category. In short, luxury travel credit cards have high annual fees but lots of desirable travel perks. They are aimed at frequent travelers who are willing to pony up a good amount of money for perks like travel credits, airport lounge access, generous points programs, and more.

The Citi Prestige Card stacks up well in this category, which includes cards like the American Express Platinum Card, the Chase Sapphire Reserve Card, and others.

Let’s get the annual fee out of the way: it’s $450.

What do you get for that big annual fee? Well, the list of perks includes:

  • A $250 air travel credit each year, including ticket purchases, baggage fees, and other air travel charges made to the card.
  • A “4th night free” when you use your card to book a stay at the same hotel for at least 4 nights.
  • A points program that offers 3 points per dollar on air travel and hotel purchases, 2 points on dining and entertainment, and 1 point everywhere else.
  • Priority Pass Select, which gives you free access to a network of airport lounges worldwide.

And more, including various travel discount offers.

So, is it worth it? Well, obviously you have to be a frequent traveler who stays overnight out of town in order for us to say yes. The rewards you get are mainly air travel and hotel rewards, so the more you believe you would use this card when traveling, the greater the benefit will be.

One thing this card does NOT have is a big upfront bonus for using the card. Many people love this type of card for the chance to get a massive amount of points very quickly. While you won’t get that bonus here, the Citi Prestige Card is very comparable to the best luxury travel credit card on the market today.
