Regional department store chain Boston Store, in partnership with Comenity Bank, offers a credit card that allows you to earn reward points toward future Boston Store purchases. Our overview / review of the card is below:
First off, you should understand that the Boston Store credit card is accepted only at Boston Store and its sister stores throughout the country: Bon-Ton, Bergner’s, Carson Pirie Scott, Elder-Beerman, Younkers, and Herberger’s. This is a very limited acceptance — do you shop at Boston Store often enough to justify opening a new credit line just for this one chain?
Maybe you do. If so, here’s what the Boston Store credit card offers:
- A $20 rewards card for every $200 spent with the card in a calendar year. You can then use the $20 card toward purchases of $50 or more at Boston Store. (You can also save rewards cards and use them together on a single purchase.)
- Chances to double your rewards based on special monthly offers.
- A birthday discount each year.
- Other cardholder-only discount offers.
The rewards are good, but only if you ALWAYS pay off your complete credit card balance each month. If you don’t, you will pay a very high interest rate on those purchases — 25.24%!!! Any rewards you receive from this card will essentially be canceled out by interest if you carry a balance.
You can only apply for the Boston Store credit card inside a Boston Store — there is no online application.
