Regional department store chain Bon-Ton, in partnership with Comenity Bank, offers a credit card that allows you to earn reward points toward future Bon-Ton purchases. Our overview / review of the Bon-Ton credit card is below:

Bon-Ton’s credit card is accepted not only at Bon-Ton stores but also any store in the Bon-Ton Stores family, including: Bergner’s, Boston Store, Carson Pirie Scott, Elder-Beerman, Herberger’s and Younkers. Despite that, this card has fairly limited usage potential — you should ask yourself if you shop at Bon-Ton often enough for it to be worth opening up another credit line just for this store.

Maybe it is. The Bon-Ton card’s rewards and perks include:

  • A $20 rewards card for every $200 spent with the card within a calendar year. You can use the $20 card toward purchases of $50 or more. (You can also save rewards cards and use them together at the same time.)
  • Chances to double your rewards based on special monthly offers.
  • A birthday discount each year
  • Other card-only discount offers throughout the year.

There’s plenty to like there, but only if you ALWAYS pay off your complete credit card balance each month. Because, if you don’t, you will pay a very high interest rate on those purchases — 24.99%, one of the highest APRs on the market. Any rewards you receive from this card will be effectively canceled out by the interest you pay if you carry a balance.

You can not apply for the Bon-Ton credit card online. Visit a Bon-Ton store to fill out an application in person.
