Regional department store chain Bergner’s, in partnership with Comenity Bank, offers a credit card that allows you to earn reward points toward future Bergner’s purchases. Our overview / review of the card is below:
The first thing to know about the Bergner’s credit card is that it is only accepted at Bergner’s and its sister stores throughout the country: Bon-Ton, Boston Store, Carson Pirie Scott, Elder-Beerman, Younkers, and Herberger’s. Do you shop at Bergner’s often enough that you need a credit card just for this one chain?
Maybe you do. Here’s what the Bergner’s credit card offers you:
- A $20 rewards card for every $200 charged to the card. You can then use the $20 card toward purchases of $50 or more at Bergner’s, and you have the option to use multiple cards on larger purchases.
- Chances to double your rewards based on special monthly offers.
- A yearly birthday discount.
- Other cardholder-only discounts.
These rewards are nice, especially if you shop at Bergner’s often. However, this card has a very high interest rate: 25.24%!!! If you EVER carry a balance on your credit cards, pass it by — any rewards you receive will essentially be canceled out by interest if you carry a balance. If you always pay your balances in full, this is less of a consideration (or no consideration at all).
You can only apply for the Bergner’s credit card inside a Bergner’s — there is no online application.
