American Signature Furniture, in partnership with Synchrony Bank (formerly known as GE Capital Retail Bank), offers a credit card you can use to get special financing on large purchases — but watch out! Our overview / review of the American Signature Furniture credit card is below:
The first thing to know about the American Signature Furniture credit card is that it can not be used anywhere beyond American Signature Furniture or its sister store, Value City Furniture. This limited acceptance is a strike against it — do you really want to open a new credit line just to finance furniture?
You might. And the reason you would is that the card usually offers you 0% financing for some period of time when you make large purchases. For example, last we looked, you get 12 months to pay with no interest if your purchase is $999 or more.
The only thing to really watch out for is this: if you don’t completely pay off your balance by the end of those 12 months, you will pay ALL of the interest that would’ve accrued since the day you made the purchase — as if the 0% offer had never existed! And the interest rate you’ll pay if that happens? 29.99%!!!! So be careful!
It doesn’t make any sense to apply for the American Signature Furniture credit card until you’re actually ready to make a purchase and take advantage of the 0% financing. However, if for some reason you are looking an online application, you’ll find it here.
