Review: NFL Credit Card

The NFL, in partnership with Barclaycard, offers the Extra Points credit card for all National Football League teams, allowing you to earn points that can be used for NFL merchandise, tickets, and fan “experiences.” Our overview / review of the NFL credit cards is below:

As mentioned the NFL Visa is available with the logo of your favorite NFL team, and it offers certain rewards specific to your team as well as more general rewards. In order to get your hands on the goods, of course, you’ll need to use the card to make purchases, for which you will receive the following rewards points:

  • 2 points per dollar on NFL purchases with the card, including tickets, in-stadium purchases, and on merchandise from your local team’s pro shop or online at
  • 1 point per dollar on all other purchases.

If you use the card for at least $500 in purchases in the first 90 days, you’ll get 10,000 bonus points, worth roughly $100 when redeemed (depending on the reward you choose).

There is no annual fee for the NFL credit card, and it carries an interest rate of either 15.49%, 20.49%, or 25.49% depending on your credit history. If you have a history of carrying balances on your credit card, pass this one by, because the interest you pay is likely to cancel out any rewards you receive.

Overall, the NFL Visa is good for rabid NFL fans who really want some of the unique rewards available, especially “experiences” like getting to go on the playing field or in the locker room (no guarantees on what will be available to you, though). Otherwise, it’s not an overly generous rewards card, and you’d be better off getting a good cash back credit card with greater rebates instead.
