Review: Eddie Bauer Credit Card

The Eddie Bauer credit card is a store-only credit card, meaning it can only be used at Eddie Bauer stores or Eddie Bauer online. Our overview / review of the card is below:

As mentioned, this card is only accepted at Eddie Bauer stores and online. This is a strike against it; opening a new credit line for a single retailer means you take a hit to your credit score for a card that can’t be used widely. This may not be a big deal if you have good credit, but if your credit is shaky, it’s something to consider.

The Eddie Bauer credit card obviously allows you to buy on credit, but it offers some other perks that may be of interest:

  • You get a rewards / gift certificate every 3 months equal to 5% of your purchases with the card during that time period.
  • You get 10% off your first purchase with the card.
  • Free return shipping on online orders made with your card.

Those things are great IF you pay your credit card balance every month. If you don’t, do not get this card. It has a very high 27.24% interest rate, which mean you’ll pay over an extra 25% on your purchases over the course of the year if you let your balances sit on the card. This will essentially cancel out away any rewards you may have accumulated, so it’s not worth it unless you know you’ll pay off the card each and every month.

The Eddie Bauer credit card is issued in partnership with Comenity Bank. You can apply in an Eddie Bauer store or you can apply online via this application.
