The eBay MasterCard allows you to earn points on eBay and PayPal purchases as well as other card purchases and redeem these points for gift cards, cash back credited to your PayPal account, and more. Our complete overview / review of the card is below:
The first thing to note about the eBay credit card is that it is accepted wherever MasterCard is accepted. This wide acceptance is a plus when compared to store credit cards that are tied to a single retailer. You can earn rewards on eBay but also anywhere else you use the card.
Specifically, the eBay MasterCard offers this point system:
- 3 points per dollar on gas & restaurant purchases with the card
- 2 points per dollar on eBay and PayPal purchases
- 1 point per dollar on anything else you buy with the card.
You also get a $30 statement credit when you use the card for the first time.
There is no annual fee for the eBay MasterCard, but it has a high interest rate of either 20.24% or 24.24%, depending on your credit history, so don’t get it if you EVER carry a balance on your credit cards. The interest you pay will essentially cancel out the rewards you receive.
NOTE: If you apply for the eBay credit card and are not approved, you might instead be approved for an alternate card — the PayPal Smart Connect Card — which can only be used on eBay and PayPal and does not qualify for the $30 statement credit, and has a 27.24% interest rate! This card offers very little of value, and we would recommend against it if this is the only card you qualify for.
eBay credit cards are issued by Synchrony Bank (formerly GE Capital Retail Bank). You can apply online via your PayPal account.
