  • Chase Sapphire Preferred – You can earn a 60,000-point bonus that is worth $600 cash, but you’ll have to spend $4000 in the first three months of having the card. The card also has a $95 annual fee to consider. You’ll earn 2 points per dollar on dining and travel on an everyday basis, 1 point on everything else.
  • Citi Premier Card – You can earn a 60,000-point bonus that can be redeemed for $600 in cash, but you’ll have to spend $4000 in the first three months of having the card. This card also has a $95 annual fee. Daily points earning on this card includes 3 points per dollar on travel and most gas purchases.
  • Bank of America Premium Rewards Visa – Offers a 50,000-point bonus (worth $500 if redeemed for cash) if you spend $3000 in the first 3 months after opening the card. The card does have a $95 annual fee. Also offers everyday rewards of 2 points per dollar on dining and travel, 1.5 points per dollar on everything else. A $100 travel credit for airline incidentals (baggage fees, in-flight charges, etc.) could make this card more than worth its cost.


  • Wells Fargo Propel American Express Card – Get a 30,000-point bonus (that can redeemed for $300 cash) when you spend at least $3000 with the card in the first three months of having it. No annual fee. This card also offers a daily 3 points per dollar (or 3% in cash) on a variety of purchases including travel, gas, dining, more.
  • Capital One Savor Rewards Card – Offers a $300 cash bonus if you spend at least $3000 with the card in the first three months after approval. No annual fee first year, but then a $95 annual fee starting in Year Two. Everyday cash back rewards include 4% back on dining and entertainment.
  • Blue Cash Preferred Card from American Express – Offers a $300 bonus if you use the card for at least $1000 in purchases in the first three months. The card has annual fee of $95. This is a nice cash-back card overall, giving you 6% back on supermarket purchases, 3% on gas, and other enhanced cash-back categories.
  • Bank of America Cash Rewards Card – You’ll get a $200 bonus if you make at least $1000 in purchases in the first 90 days after opening the card account. No annual fee. Beyond the bonus you’ll get 3% cash back in a category of your choosing (from a list of potential categories created by Bank of America), 2% at grocery stores and warehouse clubs, and 1% everywhere else.   • Capital One SavorOne Rewards – Offers a $150 cash bonus if you spend at least $500 with the card in the first three months. No annual fee. Otherwise, get 3% cash back on dining and entertainment, 2% at grocery stores and 1% on all other purchases.
  • Chase Freedom Card – Offers a $150 cash bonus if you spend at least $500 with the card in the first three months. No annual fee. Everyday rewards include 5% cash back on certain purchasing categories each calendar quarter, with all other purchases earning 1%. The 5% cash-back categories change every three months.
  • Citi Rewards+ Card – Earn 15,000 bonus points (equal to $150 if redeemed for cash) when you spend at least $1000 with this card in the first three months of having it. No annual fee. Everyday points earnings are rather modest, including 2 points per dollar on supermarket and gas station purchases, and 1 point per dollar on everything else. “Round up” feature does allow you to earn a bit more by rounding up your purchases to the nearest ten before awarding points.
