Best 0% Balance Transfer Credit Cards

zero-percent225 Updated January 16, 2018 – If you have a significant balance on your current credit card, it makes sense to find a new credit card that will let you transfer that balance and let it sit at a 0% interest rate while you pay it off. The credit cards below all offer a zero percent balance transfer rate for a limited period of time and have no annual fee:

  • Bank Americard VisaOur choice for the best 0% balance transfer card. Offers a 0% interest rate on balance transfers for 15 billing cycles, with No Balance Transfer Fee, provided you transfer the balance within 60 days of card opening. (There is a 3% balance transfer fee after that first 60 days.) You’ll also get a 0% rate on new purchases for the first 15 months. After 15 months the interest rate could be anywhere from 13.24% to 23.24%, depending on your credit history.
  • Chase Slate Visa – Offers a 0% interest rate for 15 months on transferred balances, with no fee for balances transferred within 60 days. (0% rate on new purchases for 15 months, too.) Your APR on transferred balances after the first 15 months will be from 16.24% to 24.99%, depending on the rate you are approved at (which depends on your credit history). Note that the balance transfer fee bumps up to 5% after 60 days, so get it done early.


  • Citi Diamond Preferred Card – Offers a 0% interest rate on balance transfers for a whopping 21 months, but does have a 3% balance transfer fee. The interest rate on transferred balances after the first 21 cycles is 14.24% to 24.24% depending on what rate you are approved at (which is based on your credit history).
  • U.S. Bank Visa Platinum – 0% balance transfers for 18 billing cycles. The balance transfer fee is 3%. Interest rate after the first 18 cycles is 11.24% to 23.24% depending on your credit history. 0% rate on purchases for 18 billing cycles, too.
  • Citi Simplicity Card – Offers a 0% interest rate on balance transfer for 18 months, with a 3% balance transfer fee. The interest rate on transferred balances after the first 18 months is 15.24% to 25.24% depending on what rate you are approved at (which is based on your credit history). 0% rate on new purchases for 18 months also.)
  • First National Bank of Omaha Platinum Edition Visa – Offers a 0% rate on balance transfers for 15 months, with a 3% fee on the amount of the transfer. The regular purchase interest rate on the card could be 10.99%, 15.99% or 18.99%, depending on your credit history.
  • PNC Core Visa – Offers a 0% rate on balance transfers for 15 billing cycles, a 3% balance transfer fee applies. Also offers a 0% rate on new purchases with the card for 15 billing cycles. Standard interest rates after 15 cycles range from 11.24% to 21.24% depending on your credit history.
  • Blue Cash Everyday from American Express – Get a 0% introductory rate on transferred balances for 15 months. (3% fee on balance transfers.) 0% rate on new card purchases for 15 months also. Interest rate after the first 15 months ranges from 14.24% to 25.24% depending on your credit history.
  • Amex EveryDay Credit Card – The newest American Express rewards card offers a 0% rate on balance transfers and also purchases for 15 months. 3% balance transfer fee. APR after the first 15 months ranges from 14.24% to 25.24% depending on your credit history.
  • Citizens Bank Cash Back Plus MasterCard – Offers a 0% rate on balance transfers for 15 months, 3% fee on transferred balances. Interest rate after 15 months could be 14.99%, 18.99%, or 22.99% depending on your credit history.
  • Wells Fargo Platinum Visa – Offers a 0% rate on balance transfers for 18 months, with a 3% balance transfer fee during that time. APR after the 15 months is anywhere from 16.40% to 26.24%. Also 0% interest rate on new purchases for 15 months.
  • Choice Privileges Visa – Reward credit card for hotel chains including Comfort Inn, Clarion, EconoLodge and more offers a credit card with a 0% balance transfer offer for 15 months, for balances transferred within 45 days of getting the card. There’s a 3% balance transfer fee. Interest rate on purchases and transferred balances after 15 months is either 16.49%, 21.24%, or 26.24%.
  • KeyBank Latitude MasterCard – Offers a 0% rate on balance transfers (and purchases too) for 15 months, but with a 4% balance transfer fee. Ongoing interest rate after the first 15 months of 11.24% to 21.24% depending on your credit history.
  • Fifth Third Bank Truly Simple MasterCard – 0% interest rate on balance transfers for 15 months, and 0% on new purchases, too. 4% fee on transferred balances, though. Interest rate after those 15 months varies from 13.24% to 24.24%.
  • Chase Freedom Unlimited – 0% interest on balance transfers for 15 months BUT a 5% balance transfer fee, perhaps the highest balance transfer fee we’ve seen. Interest rate after the first 15 months of anywhere from 16.24% to 24.99% depending on your credit history. 0% rate on new purchases for 15 months also.
  • Chase Freedom Card – Offers a 0% interest rate on balance transfers for 15 months from card opening (15 months on purchases, too). There is a 5% balance transfer fee. Interest rate after the first 15 months of anywhere from 16.24% to 24.99% depending on your credit history.
  • Discover It Card – Offers 0% interest on balance transfers for 14 months, but has a fee of 3% of the amount of the transferred balance. Interest rate on those balances after 14 months is anywhere from 12.24% to 24.24% depending on your credit history. 0% rate on new purchases for 14 months also.
  • BankAmericard Cash Rewards Visa – Offers a 0% interest rate on balance transfers for 12 billing cycles, provided you transfer the balance within 60 days of card opening. There is a 3% balance transfer fee.   • MLB Extra Bases Credit Card – Major League Baseball rewards credit card offers a 0% rate on balance transfers and purchases for 12 months. There’s a 3% fee on transferred balances, however. Interest rate after 12 months: 14.24% to 24.24%.
  • State Farm Rewards Visa – Offers a 0% interest rate on balance transfers for 12 months (0% on purchases, too). You’ll pay a 3% balance transfer fee. Interest rate after the first year is 14.49% to 21.49% depending on your credit history.
  • M&T Bank Visa Card – Transfer a balance at a 0% rate for 12 months, but you’ll pay a 4% transfer fee to do so. APR after 12 months ranges from 11.24% to 18.24%.
