Environmental activist organization The Sierra Club offers a credit card in partnership with Beneficial State Bank & TCM Bank that allows you to earn rewards and also support the Sierra Club financially. Our overview / review of the card is below:
The Sierra Club Visa can be used anywhere Visa credit cards are accepted, which is just about everywhere. A percentage of every purchase you make “supports Sierra Club’s mission to enjoy, explore and protect the planet,” but we couldn’t find any hard information about exactly what percentage the Sierra Club actually gets. This is typical of these types of credit cards that exist to help non-profit organizations, but we always feel it would be more (or less) compelling to potential cardholders to know exactly how much of their purchase benefits the organization.
Nevertheless, there’s something else in it for you when using the card: points. The Sierra Club credit card offers ScoreCard Rewards points with every purchase. Points can be used toward travel or merchandise rewards. There is nothing particularly noteworthy about the rewards program, but it does give you a little something on top of the benefits of helping The Sierra Club.
The Sierra Club Visa has no annual fee and an interest rate as low as 9.99% if you have good credit, but possibly as high as 17.99% if your credit is not so good.
You can choose 1 of 4 Sierra Club card designs — go here to apply for any of the 4 via the card’s online application.
